The answers to all of our generational questions boil down to a very simple principle that is at the heart of who we are as human beings: RESPECT.

Everyone wants to be respected for how he or she sees the world. While each generation is unique in its views, they all have two fundamental things in common:
1. They all believe their way of seeing the world is right.
2. They all want respect for how they see the world.

In remembering this basic principle, we can navigate generational issues with more grace and less conflict. We must acknowledge and respect others’ points of view and motives. Even if we don’t see eye to eye, we can find a common ground in mutual respect, and this will grease the wheels as we work toward a solution.
